Illumination test. This test is intended to evaluate the amount and uniformity of light on the work surface.
The task light shall be mounted according to the manufacturer’s recommended height (17 to 22 inches) above a measurement plane (light meter photocell top) representing a work surface. At a point along the centerline of the surface, 20 inches from the rear edge, (point A on Figure 1) the task light shall provide a minimum of 75 fc, not including ambient light. Additional readings shall be taken along reference lines B-B and C-C of Figure 1. The ratio of the maximum to minimum fc readings shall be not greater than 3 to 1.
Identification label. The label shall have the contractor’s name or trademark, contract or order number, National Stock Number (if applicable) and month and year of manufacture legibly marked in permanent dark ink. The label shall be affixed in an inconspicuous location and shall not be removable by hand after having been affixed for four hours.
Regulatory requirements. In accordance with section 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulations, the Government’s policy is to acquire items composed of the highest percentage of recovered materials practicable, consistent with maintaining a satisfactory level of competition without adversely affecting performance requirements or exposing suppliers’ employee to undue hazards from the recovered materials.
Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking. The preservation, packaging, packing, labeling and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
NOTES:
Purchaser shall specify applicable panel and component characteristics (i.e. type, style, height, etc.).
Manufacturers are encouraged to offer their commercially available accessories, components, finishes, etc. not specifically required by the description.
The commercial item certification clause is not required when this commercial item description is used for procurement.
