inside cabinets. EDP depth shall be 15 inches, minimum clear inside dimensions. Cabinets shall be provided with a receding or flipper door. Cabinets locks shall be available.
Shelf and cabinet bottoms shall be steel. Sides and cabinet doors shall be steel or balanced particleboard construction. Corners and edges shall be radiused.
Counter tops. Counter tops shall be provided in a variety of sizes to match panels. Counter tops shall be top of panel mounted. Depth shall be 15 + 1 inches. Construction shall be balanced with a high pressure plastic laminate top surface. Self edging is not allowed on front or rear edges. Post forming or T-molding is acceptable. Corners and edges shall be radiused.
Task light. Task light shall be designed for mounting on the underside of shelves and cabinets. Light fixtures shall be provided in widths compatible with component widths. Light design shall limit glare and shield the lamp from sight at eye level from a seated position. Task light shall use commercially available, color corrected, rapid start fluorescent lamps and high power factor, thermally protected ballast. Task light shall have individuals on/off switches. Lights shall meet applicable Underwriters’ Laboratories requirements and the performance tests contained herein. Task lights shall shall be easily mounted.
Finish. Metal portions of panels and components shall have a matte, baked enamel or epoxy finish. Plastic laminates shall be walnut grain per GSA Standard Sample No.FSS-L-01002, light oak grain per Sample No. FSS-L-01015 and matte, light neutral. Alternatively, the manufacturer may use his commercial walnut and light oak laminates subject to contracting officer’s approval. Edgebanding, if used shall match the enamel finish as closely as possible.
Workmanship. Finish shall be smooth, with no hazardous projections, sharp edges or details which may cause personal injury or damage to clothing. Fabric covers shall be neat, smooth and accurately tailored to fit without wrinkles, puckers or other defects which detract from their appearance, serviceability or safety to the user.
Testing. Testing for fire hazard and acoustical performance shall be conducted by an independent laboratory and copies of the test report shall be submitted as proof of compliance. Test shall be conducted on the entire assembled panel. ( complete core, adhesive, decorative fabric, frame, joining components, etc.). In addition, the panel system (panels and components) shall meet the applicable requirements of BIFMA First Generation Voluntary Panel Systems Standard PS-1-1984, Underwriters’ Laboratories Standard U.L. 1286 and the following:
