3.3 Center drawers. Center drawers shall be metal and have in and out stops and built-in pencil trays. The bottom front edges shall be formed and be flush with the bottom apron edge within + 4 mm.
3.4 Aprons. All sides and ends of the tables (types I, II, and III) shall have full metal aprons 63 mm high, minimum. Bottom edges shall be formed and returned to avoid sharp or thin edges.
3.5 Knee and end panels for type III table. The knee panel shall be inset 178 mm + 6 mm from the top back edge and shall extend to the side panels. The side panels shall be inset below the apron, as above, and shall extend from the front to the back legs. All panels shall be 349 mm + 6 nun from the bottom of the legs (excluding glides). The construction shall be KD. All of the exposed panel edges shall be formed to avoid sharp or thin edges.
3.6 Legs. Legs shall be a minimum 22 mm square, stainless or chromium plated steel with a polished finish. The legs shall have adjustable glides and shall be KD construction. The KD construction shall be designed to hold the legs securely in place, without movement, when set-up. The adjustable glides shall have a 25.4 mm minimum adjustment.
3.7 Finish. The finish shall be semi-gloss baked enamel. Unless otherwise specified, me colors shall match Fed. Std. No. 595 black (27040) and parchment (within the range delimited by 26586 and 26405). Alternatively, the manufacturer may provide his commercial baked enamel finish subject to me approval of the contracting officer.
3.8 Identification label. The label shall pave the contractor’s name or trademark contract number, NSN (if specified) and year and month of manufacture legibly marked with permanent dark ink. The label shall be affixed to the underside of the top and shall not be removable by baud without defacement after being affixed for 4 hours.
3.9 Workmanship. The metal shall be free from sharp edges and burrs to prevent injury to personnel or damage to their clothing. The baked enamel finish shall be smooth, without runs, grit, wrinkles, tackiness, or separation of color. The chromium plating shall be free of pits, blisters, stains, and brush or grind marks. There shall be no defects that affect the appearance or serviceability of the tables.
3.10 Performance. Tables shall comply with the following requirements. Failure to comply shall be cause for rejection.
3.10.1 ANSU/BIFMA test. The tables shall comply with the following tests cited in ANSI/BIFMA X 5.5; 4 Top loading, 5- Top Load Ease, 8- Out Stop, 10 - Racking, 11 Drop, 12 - Leg impact, and 14 - Table Stability.
3.10.2 Chromium plating test. Widely scattered spots of corrosion are permitted, however, none of these spots shall exceed 1.6mm along the greatest dimension. Plated samples shall be tested for corrosion in accordance with the 5 percent neutral salt spray at 35°C in accordance with ASTM Test Method B 117. The test period shall not be less than 48 hours. After the specified exposure is completed, the specimen shall be visually examined to assure that the plating shows no evidence of peel, chip, uneven color, powder film, pits, or stain.
4. PRODUCT CONFORMANCE.
4.1 Responsibility for inspection. The contractor shall be responsible for the performance of all inspection and testing in fulfillment of all requirement specified herein. Unless otherwise specified in the contractor purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities approved by the Government as suitable for the performance of inspections and tests required by this CID. The Government reserves the right to perform any or all of the inspections and/or tests set forth in, this CID, as deemed necessary to provide assurance of supply conformance to prescribed requirements.
4.2 First article requirements. The first article inspection shall be in accordance with the solicitation.
4.3 Quality conformance inspection. A sample of the finished product shall be selected in accordance with paragraph 4.6 of this CID for quality conformance verification. The sample shall be examined to verify that the
