position, an upward vertical pull of a 67 N force shall be applied to each leg for one minute. Any movement exceeding 2 mm after the test shall be cause for rejection.
3.2 Identification label. The label shall have the contractor’s name or trademark, contract No., NSN (if Y specified), and year and month of manufacture legibly marked with permanent dark ink. The label shall be affixed to the back or inside back of the bookcase. It shall not be removable by hand without defacement after being affixed for 4 hours.
3.3 Workmanship. Edges and corners shall be eased. The metal shall be free of sharp edges and burrs to prevent injury to personnel. The baked enamel finish shall be smooth without runs, grit, wrinkles, tackiness, or separation of color. The chromium elating shall be free of pits, blisters, stains and brush and grind marks. There shall be no other defects adversely affecting appearance or serviceability.
4. Quality Assurance Provisions.
4.1 Responsibility for inspection. The contractor shall be responsible for the performance of all inspection and testing in fulfillment of all requirements specified herein. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities approved by the Government as suitable for the performance of inspections and tests required by this CID. The Government reserves the right to perform any or all of the inspections and/or tests set forth in this CID, as deemed necessary to provide assurance of supply conformance to prescribed requirements.
4.2 First article requirements. Unless otherwise specified by the contract or purchase order, a sample of the finished product shall be made available by the contractor for first article testing. Inspection of the First Article shall verify conformance to all of the requirements herein.
4.3 Quality conformance inspection. A sample of the finished product shall be selected in accordance with paragraph 4.6 of this CID for quality conformance verification. The sample shall be examined to verify that the requirements referenced in sections 1, 2, and 3 have been met. Any non conformance with the above requirements shall be considered a defect. All defects found shall be classified as major/minor in accordance with paragraphs 4.4 and 4.5 of this CID.
