Performance tests. Chairs must meet applicable performance test in ANSI X5.1.1977 and Amendment X5.1a.1979 listed below.

*** Test 17- All tests shall be run over the obstacle course with the following acceptance criteria; 36,000 cycles allowing one caster related failure in the first 20,000 cycles, and a maximum of two caster related failures up to 36,000 cycles.
Identification marking. The bottom of each chair seat shall be clearly and permanently marked with the following information; Federal stock number, contract or order number, this commercial item description number, the month and year of manufacture, and the manufacturer’s name or trademark.
Workmanship. The upholstery, tailoring, construction, and finish shall be of the quality necessary to provide durable, functional chairs, acceptable in appearance and to prevent potential hazard to personnel or their clothing.
Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Recovered materials. The manufacturer shall utilize recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable.
Packaging, packing, and marking. The chairs shall be individually packaged in accordance with normal commercial practice. The complete package shall be designed to insure delivery at destination, provide for redistribution by the initial receiving activity, and protect the chair against loss, abrasion, or damage during multiple shipments, handling, and storage. The shipping container and its packing component shall, as a minimum, be capable “F” back requirements of the National Motor Freight Classification and Uniform Freight Classification. Form fitting and open bottom boxes shall not be acceptable. Marking shall be as specified in the contract or order and shall include the precautionary marking required for furniture items.
