ball bearing roller progressive suspensions, except lower center rollers may be without ball bearings. All drawers shall be of welded or mechanically fastened construction with double wall drawer fronts. The interior wall may be molded plastic or other material. Bumpers shall cushion drawer stops in both closed and extended positions. Data printout and file drawers shall provide an adjustable hang-rail system.
Top option. Tops shall be covered with HP plastic laminate with backing sheet on bottom (steel cores excepted) walnut grain per GSA Standard Sample No. FSS-L-01002, light oak grain per GSA Standard Sample No. FSS-L-01015 or matte parchment laminate within limits of the parchment enamel. Alternatively, the manufacturer may provide his equivalent walnut or light oak grain HP plastic laminate subject to the contracting officer approval. Molding, if used, shall have radius corners and shall match the baked enamel finish within the limits of the material used with corners rounded. Self edge not allowed.
Convenience tray. When specified, each pedestal shall be equipped with a compartmented convenience/pencil tray. The tray shall occupy the pedestal’s top drawer. Convenience tray may be omitted when pencil drawer is provided.
Pulls. Drawer pulls shall be recessed into the drawer front. Alternatively, the manufacturer may provide his commercial drawer pulls subject to contracting officer’s approval.
Locks. A lock shall be provided in the face of the pedestal. The lock shall have a minimum of 125 key changes and the mechanism shall secure all drawers.
Casters. A minimum of four dual wheel casters shall be provided. The two casters shall pivot. The front casters shall b equipped with easily accessible brakes and shall be fixed so that the break faces forward. Casters shall be field replaceable.
Finish. Metal portions of the pedestals shall have a matte or semi-gloss baked enamel or powder or liquid epoxy finish. Color shall be in accordance with Fed. Std. No. 595, parchment (between 26586 and 26405) or black (27040). Alternatively the manufacturer may provide his commercial finish subject to the contracting officer subject to the contracting officer’s approval.
Workmanship. Finishes shall be smooth, with no drips or runs. There shall be no sharp edges or details or hazardous projections which may cause injury to personnel or damage to their clothing.
