NOTE: Minimum height shall be measured with glides fully retracted into legs.
General construction. The joining of all components of the commodities covered by this CID shall result in compact units of sufficient strength to prevent distortion, breakage or loosening of any component during handling, shipping, daily usage and when moved within the office.
All units shall comply with the specified test requirements, and shall be capable of inter-membering using the specified attachment bracket.
Laminated plastic top. The L-turn shall have a particleboard top with self-edged high pressured laminate plastic face and a backing sheet to produce a balanced sandwich construction. The simulated walnut grain laminated plastic tops shall be per GSA Standard Sample No. FSS-L-01002. Alternatively, the manufacturer may provide his equivalent commercial walnut grain laminated plastic, subject to contracting officer approval. Overall thickness of the top shall be one inch minimum.
Legs. Two-1 inch square minimum full height legs shall be reinforced as necessary to withstand all applicable tests. All exterior surfaces of both legs shall be polished finished stainless or polished chrome plated steel. The legs shall be equipped with adjustable leveling glides.
Pedestal. The overall size of the drawer pedestal shall be of such dimensions as to properly contain the kind, size and location of the drawers specified. The pedestal walls shall be not less than 22 gage stee with corners constructed to eliminate rough metal edges. There shall be an end filler panel to be placed between pedestal legs to create a flush profile.
Drawers. The drawers shall have stops to prevent accidental removal, but allow removal without the use of tools. The minimum inside clear dimensions shall be as shown in Fig.5. File, half-eight and storage drawers shall be welded construction with double waller drawer fronts. The storage drawes body shall be constructed to accommodate partitions. Each storage drawer shall have a minimum of two (2) partitions per drawer. The storage and half-eight drawers shall be suspended on nylon glides. The glides shall promote smooth quiet operation and prevent metal-to-metal contact between suspension members. The file drawers shall be on full progressive suspensions. The file drawer shall have a spring activated follower block which operates smoothly. Bumpers shall cushion drawer stops in both closed and extended positions. All storage drawer fronts and file drawer fronts shall extend from the leg to the knee-space side of the pedestal, with the knee-space side of the drawer front overlapping the side of the pedestal, and positioned in the same plane as the knee-space side of the pedestal. (Necessary clearance shall be allowed between legs and drawer fonts.)
