3.1.2 Type II stools. Type II stools shall be 24.00 ± 1.00 inches and, minimally, adjustable to 30.00 ± 1.00 inches in height. Figure I is provided as an example.
3.2 Material. The material shall be at the option of the contractor (see 4.1). The material selected, however, shall produce stools required to support the weight of a 225 lb person, with a safety factor of X 4.
3.3 Construction. The stool shall have four legs, minimum, with leg bracing positioned to also serve as a footrest. The seat shall have a minimum support area of 16.00 inches in diameter. The stool shall withstand a functional load of 225 lb (300 lb proof) and the footrest shall withstand a momentary application of a 200 lb force anywhere along its periphery.
3.4 Treatment and painting. Unless otherwise specified (see 7.2), and unless the material is inherently corrosion resistant, the stools shall be treated and painted in accordance with the contractor’s standard practice.
3.5 Metric products. Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basis with those manufactured using inch-pound units, provided they fall within the tolerances specified and all other requirements of this Commercial Item Description are met. If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerances specified in the inch/pound units, a request should be made to the contracting officer to determine if the product is acceptable. The contracting officer has the option of accepting or rejecting the product.
4. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS.
4.1 Recovered materials. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
