Assembly. The stand shall include corrosion resistant hardware for complete assembly with simple hand tools. Simple illustrated instructions for assembly shall be included.
Identification label. The label shall have the contractor’s name or trademark, contract or order number, National Stock Number (if specified) and month and year of manufacture legibly marked in permanent dark ink. The labels shall be affixed under the top of the stand and on the bottom of all other items and shall not be removable by hand without defacement after being affixed for 4 hours.
Workmanship. The workmanship shall be of the quality to produce finished items acceptable in appearance, function and serviceability and to prevent potential hazard to personnel or their clothing.
Performance. Each unit shall comply with the following requirements. Failure of any unit to comply with these requirements shall be cause for rejection.
ANSI/BIFMA. American National Standards Institute for Desk Products X.5.5-1983. Perform following tests: 4, 5, 10, 11, 12, and 14.
Regulatory requirement. In accordance with the section 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulations, the Government’s policy is to acquire items composed of the highest percentage of recovered materials practicable, consistent with maintaining a satisfactory level of competition without adversely affecting performance requirements or exposing suppliers’ employees to undue hazards from the recovered materials.
Packaging, packing, and marking. Packaging, packing and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
Plastic laminate sample. A sample panel of the decorative plastic laminate is obtainable from the Engineering Division, Furniture Commodity Center, Federal Supply Services, General Services Administration, Washington, DC 20406.
Color sample. A sample panel of the enamel finish is obtainable from the Business Service Center, Federal Supply and Services, General Services Administration, Washington, DC 20405 or the Business Center in the nearest General Services Administration Regional Office.
ANSI/BIFMA. Standards are available from the American National Standards Institute Inc., 1430 Broadway, New York, NY 10018.
Note. The Commercial Certification Clause is not required when this Commercial Item Description is used for procurement.
