Panels (Interconnecting, loadbearing, With Hang-on Components)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
Intended use. The panels procured under this description are intended for use in establishing functional areas in an open plan office. Hang-on components provide additional storage and more efficient use of vertical space. The panels and components are intended for use with conventional, steel or wood desks, task tables, worksurfaces and mobile pedestals to provide complete workstations.

Salient characteristics. Panels shall be provided in the following types, styles heights and widths.
Type I – Fabric face, acoustical
Type II – Pass through.
Style A – Raceway only.
Style B – Prewired raceway.
Height A – Reception ( 40 – 42 inches high)
Height B – Seated privacy (53 – 63 inches high)
Height C – Standing privacy (65 – 72 inches high)
Height D – Conferene (74 – 80 inches high)
Components shall be of the following types and depths.
Type III – Shelf
Type IV – Cabinet
Depth A – Standards
Depth B – EDP
Type V – Counter tops
Type VI – Task lights
Design. Panels and components shall be of a design, materials and construction to withstand hard daily use over a minimum expected life of 8 years with a minimum of maintenance and repair. There shall be no design characteristics which negatively affect appearance or serviceability or which could cause injury to personnel or damage to their clothing.
Panels. Type I panels shall have full fabric faces. Type II panel shall have partial fabric face with an opening to allow sharing of a computer through the panel.
