COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
STORAGE CABINET FOR FORMS
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
Commercial Item Description in preference to Federal Supply Schedule,
Group 71, Part XXV
This commercial item description covers metal cabinets for storage of form.
Salient characteristics:
Size. Tray sizes, letter- 9 inches wide x 12 inches deep x 2 inches high (minimum inside dimensions), legal- 9 inches wide x 14 inches deep x 2 inches high (minimum inside dimensions). Each tray shall hold approximately 500 sheets of 16 pound bond.
Cabinets. Type I, 48” high x 38” wide x 15” deep to accommodate 88 trays. Type II, 65” high x 38” wide x 15” deep accommodating 88 trays, with base cabinet. Type III, 53” high x 20” wide x 15” deep. Cabinet shall be welded steel construction, completely assembled. Types I and II are four trays wide and type III is two trays wide.
Finish. The finish shall be baked enamel, Fed.Std.No.595 color black (27040), parchment (27769), and gray (26134).
Workmanship. Workmanship shall be of the quality to produce finished cabinets acceptable in appearance, function and serviceability and to prevent potential hazard to personnel or their clothing.
Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Recovered materials. The manufacturer shall utilize recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable.
Packaging, packing, and marking. The packaging and packing shall be in accordance with normal commercial practice and shall assure acceptance by common carrier and provide product protection against loss and damage during multiple shipments, handling, and storage. The shipping container shall be in compliance with National Motor Freight Classification and Uniform Freight Classification. Marking shall be in accordance with the contract or order.
Note. Purchaser should specify the overall size and type of cabinet required.
